Superfast/choppy sound in Mepis 3.3

I just upgraded to a creative labs soundblaster live 24 bit card because my old one that ws used with windows for 6 years was not compatible with Linux.

I configured the soundcard using ALSA and now get a fast and choppy sound. Basically all my audio files are faster with 1/100 of a second gaps in audio every second.

I am using Kmix.

I am running Mepis 3.3 with Linux Kernel 2.6. It is a PIII on and HP box. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!!

This is a driver issue. Get the latest from the Creative website.

Creative does not havd drivers for linux. They claim their cars can run with ALSA and a few other drivers. The ALSA one is what I installed and it is not working properly. In fact, when detecting the card it told me that I had an audigy instead of a Live!

Anyone have any ideas as to where I can get the correct driver and where/how to install it?

SB Live! 24 Bit

I had the same problem in gentoo, I fixed it using the ALSA ca-0106 driver and outputting sound to the OSS wrapper. It isn't the best solution, but it works.
