super newbie and mandrake8.1


hi

i just installed mandrake 8.1 alongside windows, i used the lin4win command.

ok thing is when mandrake boots up i get a blue screen and nothing else apart from this box thing in the bottom right corner.

is it buggered? how do i do anything with it? god my heads going to explode..

mind you it looked ok when it was installing

i feel really bad for you. It looks like your like me, we don't know nada. I just hope I can install linux properly, after that its going to be a lot of work on my end to even begin to understand how to function in a linux operating system. I am scared.

why doesnt my desktop look like this http://www.llllll.fsworld.co.uk/man.jpg

the only thing they have in common is the blue background, but the tutorial says this is what it will be like

Are you using KDE as your graphical interface? That's what is pictured in that screenshot.
