SUPER NEWB! I can't open my Ubuntu Software Center!

Hi everyone. Im just trying to be able to watch Hulu streaming on linux and having problems. I have Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit.

There is a red icon in the top right of my screen that reads:

error opening the cache
problem with merge list
the package lists or files could not be parsed or opened

I'm trying to get my Ubuntu Software Center to start but it just won't open. I need to access it to download things but now I can't download anything!

Any ideas?
