Super high port numbers in the millions
Dear Gentle Folk,
A am running Centos 5.3 on nummerous machines and SunOS 4.1.4 on one. I export a directory from SunOS to Centos, then I mount the sunos directory on the centos machine. All of the files are there, but all of them are unreadable. using nfsvers=2 in the mount. When I do a tcpdump, I notice that the centos machine is sending packets TO port 2049 on the SunOS machine, FROM 3 billion or more on the CentOS machine. No other application seems to do this and all work fine from Centos -> SunOs except mount and nfs. What exactly do I not understand about the phrase that port ranges are 0 to 65xxx? Thanks in advance, Homer W. Smith CEO Lightlink Internet |
I do not think even tcpdump can handle those irreal port numbers.
