Welcome to HQ. 1st help - in English, the first letter in a sentence is upper case. So is the pronoun "I" and the first letter of any proper noun. There is also at least one space after a full stop and topics are usually split into paragraphs. This all helps people read your questions and makes it easier to post a proper reply.

... you are installing linux (presumably Linspire - is this correct?)

... have you, perchance, enabled the onboard RAID controller?

1. Do not use the onboard RAID - disable it and use linux software RAID in the setup (if you must have RAID at all.)

2. Linux cannot boot from a RAID device.

The nvram setup "cmos settings" dialogs? Yes - it's telling you your disks are not installed correctly.

Strongly urge you to got a linux live CD - Knoppix or Ubuntu or DSL.
From a live session, it is possible to run powerful diagnostics tools and get a better idea of what is going on.
