Hi,

I have bought a new desktop which consist of 320gp harddisk.

And i planned to install the OEL5 in it

Later after some days i also planned to install the windows xp in the same machine also.

Please give me the suitable suggestions for my installation process

That the thinks like,

How i can make the partitions effectively
In which partition i should install OEL5
And making ready of the partitions for my next installation windows xp after some days
So that i can effectively handle both the OS in the future

Please give me the ideas

Write clearly, please...your question is hard to follow. And I have no idea what "OEL5" is...do you mean RedHat Enterprise (RHEL) 5? If you're not paying for a subscription to the RedHat network/support, install CentOS instead.

And if you want "that the links like", put "dual boot windows xp and linux" into Google. You'll find lots. There are also many articles on THIS VERY SITE that have covered this many times...do a search here, too.

I would set up 2 main different partitions. One for that hog of a system (xp) and give it 50 GB of memory. As far as your oracle system is concerned http://http://www.oracle-base.com/ar...stallation.php provides a good idea on how to set up your individual partitions. Leave the rest of your hard disk open, you never know when you want to experiment with redhat, solaris, or any other open source.

I loked in at this thread to try to find out what OEL5 was: if TB0ne is wrong, I haven't been helped.

Windows first, Linux later is easier.

Insert the disk, boot, follow the prompts.

What?

Whatever the facilities are in OEL5, whatever that is, for making partitions, use it for making partitions. Having made partitions, use them.

In what way is that ineffective?

OEL5 is probably "Oracle Enterprise Linux 5"... I feel like I need a shower now.
