Suggestion for Backup?
 

Hi,

I want to change my system from Fedora to OpenSuse. To do this I need to backup a series of data files to DVD before I wipe the disk. The some of the files are videos that are larger than a single DVD. Is there a backup program I can use that will backup on Fedora and restore on OpenSuse and supports data files that span multiple DVDs? Of course easy to use is good

You could always use split (see man split) to split apart the files and then cat them back together. I'd test it before trusting important stuff to it, though, as I've never actually used it.

Do you have a network share or NFS server you could back them up on? That's probably the easiest way.
