Suggest Book for Beginner!!!
 

HI to all,

I am a Linux newbie and recruited in Embedded System Field.I have been suggested "Understanding Linux Kernel" book,but as a beginner I found it really difficult and boring.

Please suggest some book regarding Linux Kernel and Embedded System,which help me.
Does Robert Love book is OK?

try linux A-Z. However, there is chance it may appear too simple.

I find it easier for me to come up with a project to work towards that will help accomplish my goal. Perhaps create a mysql database for home inventory or a database driven website using PHP and mysql (sitepoint has a good book on the this one) .... And then you use the books for reference rather than reading cover to cover. They all get boring after a while.
Jump in and try something and use the book and this web site to help get you through it.

Couldn't agree more.
If we just use book terms start sounding like same after few chapters.
I found DotHQ's approach the best find projects ,which you find very interesting, you do it on linux machine.

A Practical Guide to Linux
 

The best book I found for beginners is A Practical Guide to Linux(R) Commands, Editors, and Shell Programming. I don't personally know anyone else who uses linux so I used it to start my learning from scratch. Now the teachers at my college are coming to me all the time for help with their first linux installs (this is my second time in college). The same author also wrote A Practical Guide to Ubuntu which I have, it seems to be very similar to the first book. I don't know whether or not to suggest it, but if this is your first time using linux, and you use Ubuntu it could be a better idea, but I would suggest the first book for all distributions.

Be prepared to work hard as Sobell's books are very clear and easy to understand, but he presents some challenges at the ends of the chapter that really challenge you and give you a thorough understanding of everything you are doing.

If you want something specifically dealing with the kernel, this one is quite good:
