sue 9.0 user name problems
 
ok i got suse 9.0 a few weeks ago i installed it no problems, i create my main user "eric" so now i got "root" and "eric" after about a week the user "eric" can not log on from the logon screen i just keeps booting me back to it so i ahve to use root and make a new account..?? this has happed 2 times on 2 fresh installs so far ?? what is going on here ??!?!?!

Is the password and/or account expiring perhaps? You can go in as root and see if there are expiration dates set on the account or its password. There's probably a nice GUI to do this in SUSE, but I'm not sure how exactly, since I don't use it.

hmm expiring sounds like a good idea could be i think the the sub accounts last like 3 - 5 days not sure exactly but ill try it thanx :)

Hmm, I ran into this exact same problem as well. It's irritating to get your primary user account completely set up to your liking and then get kicked out of it for no apparent reason. And it happened multiple times as well. But I then went in as root and created a new account, deleted the old one, and I never have had any problems since (several months have passed). It sounds plausible that the account created during the installation process has a short expiration on the password.

that is exactly what i did, it just keeps doing it to me over and over... :(
