Sudo Access

I think I understand the purpose of sudo access, but would like for someone to please, i depth fully explain it's purpose. I was under the impression that logging in a 'sudo' gives you root access.

M W Lucas did the talk and he has a very good book sudo mastery. It's a little short, but covers absolutely everything. So if you find having something in hand helpful in learning or working, visit your favorite bookstore.
