Stuttering videos

Why do videos play as if stuttering in full screen mode but run fine in the small size as brought up on the Youtube opening screen? I have Ubuntu 10.? and have tried all (or most) of the found video players for this GNU installation and they all seem to work this way. Should I move to a different Linux installation?

Welcome to the forums! Tell us more about your hardware specs please (processor, RAM, video card, etc).

To be clear, the Adobe Flash player is an example of "closed source" or "proprietary" software. This means you cannot "tweak" the Flash player to make it run faster or better. There is no difference between the Flash player in Ubuntu vs. Debian, Fedora, Red Hat, etc, so I doubt switching Linux distros will make much difference. :)

Personally, I use an app called Minitube to watch Youtube in Linux; it seems to work better than streaming the video in my web browser using the Flash plugin.

Thank you snowpine. Appreciate the helpful response. My system is a 1.9 GHz AND Athlon(tm) 64x2 Dual Core Processor 3600+, 2 GB Ram, 64 bit, with NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE Graphics card.

I don't have Adobe installed in my Ubuntu. I have been using Banshee. Last evening I installed Minitube, set it as the preferred player, and found it to be the same as all the others I've tried. But, I do thank you and welcome further comments from anyone.

Did you enabled nvidia drivers?

Does all the video stutter or just the youtube?

Thanks, Expeto. Well, let me say that .wmv videos folks have sent me attached to emails play just fine. For that reason, I would say the NVIDIA drivers are enabled, though I confess, I am not sure what you are referring to or how I would do that in Ubuntu, being new to the system. Other videos, such as news or clips also stutter at full screen mode, but not the .wmv attachments.
