stupid question

I am trying to upgrade from red hat 7.0 to 7.2 and it says that I need 287 MB of space on my /usr partition to continue. I have 500+ free on my / partition. I am wondering how to "move" some of the free space I have on / to the /usr partition without losing any data.

Thanks.

unless their right next to one another on your partition table, i don't think your going to get around this one... probably the easiest way around this is to just backup any data you don't want loss and then make a whole new install with a new partition scheme for your install.. unless someone knows some software that works like partition magic in windows, and won't screw with any of your other data partitions that is..

They are right next to each other on the partition table.

I believe you want to use partman to resize them.

Why don't you try the Partition Magic?? Is for Linux too if I remember well, and it is very good to what it does.
