Stuck on Grub


need help please. total linux noob, 2 days of fiddling and still not up and running. Using fedora 2.

i got grub to load to the part where it askes me for my password. then the next screen says "e" to edit the commands "a" to midify kernel and "c" for command line

no mater what i do the computer just reboots. I have a p4p800 is this related to teh problem? I had to use a patch of sorts just to install fedora 2

any assistance would be appreciated

What do you see when grub first starts?
What do you see when you press e?
What kind of 'patch' did you use to install FC2?
