Stuck in GRUB loading stage1.5.

error message: GRUB loading, please wait.....

GRUB is running on a HP laptop with the UBUNTU operating system. HOw do I boot up?

There's not really enough information to say what's going wrong. You should try making a bootable live cd, and see if you can boot from that.

Bad file or directory type
This error is returned if a file requested is not a regular file, but something like a symbolic link, directory, or FIFO.
That is what the error means but as indicated above, you have not given enough information for anyone to help you. Start with which release of Ubuntu.

Stuck in GRUB loading stage1.5

Operating system UBUNTU 10.4 will not boot. I am stuck in the GRUB loading page. How can I create a BOOT Cd? Can someone direct me to the website where I can create the BOOT CD for GRUB? P.s. Linux and UBUNTU is a new experience for me so I probably will need a boot cd for future problems if I get locked out of the system.

Stuck in GRUB loading state 1.5

Sorry the version of UBUNTU is 10.4.

Here is how you can create a boot cd or usb stick for ubuntu:

http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/download

See there is a big button marked "show me how" and options for setting what kind of computer you want to use to make the bootable cd or stick.

Once you can boot the computer off a cd or usb stick, then you can fix your grub booting problem, so that you can boot the computer without a cd or usb stick.

You could also google SuperGrubDisk and download it and burn it to a CD for future use.
Also would be helpful to provide more information. Google bootinfoscript and go to its page, download it and run it from your Ubuntu CD and post the output here. There are instructions on the page.
