Strange problem about putty

Hi,

I couldn't ssh to remote IBM BLADE X SERVER running RHEL6 by putty with password authentication.

I do the following things:

1. Allow root to login by permitrootlogin

2. Add a common user to wheel group

3. Disable iptables

4. Disable SElinux

5. sshd service started

6. Passwordauthentication yes

But when I ssh to the server, it prompted username and password.

Access denied with right username and password.

Could you please help?

this looks to be nothing at all to do with putty. What does /var/log/secure say about your login attempt on the server?
