Stop auto mounting my pen drive


Is there is any way that i don't want my pen drive to be automatically mounted when it is inserted

If using Gnome, uncheck the following checkbox in gconf.

/apps/nautilus/preferences/media_automount

Or try running this as root (also if using Gnome):

gconftool-2 --type bool --set /apps/nautilus/preferences/media_automount false
If you're not using Gnome, you could try editing /etc/fstab if the device is listed there, not an expert on messing with that file though.

there's a noauto setting in fstab you can look up.

What distribution and what GUI (KDE, Gnome, etc) are you using? If you are using KDE go to the Menu and click on "System Settings" and navigate to "Hardware > Removable Devices" and uncheck "Enable automatic mounting of removable media".
