startx wont work on my suse enterprise desktop 10

This is a urgent issue!!!!

I got my mini laptop a while ago and after a while the daemon stopped working, so i had to load by using startx from the opening terminal. But know startx wont work at all every time I try typing it in i get:

xauth: error while loading shared libraries: libXau.so.6: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory

I have no idea what to do and ive began to panic!!

Depends on your distro.

Sounds like you might be having hardware failure (HD failing, corrupt filesystem, etc)!

Is the mini laptop in warranty?
What does the Minilaptop manufacturing Tech Support Say?
Did you get a live CD with your Operating System on it?
If you have the Live CD you can reload Linux as it boots up
If you use the Live CD there should be a Hard Disk Diagnostic that you can run at boot up
So here is a plan:
1. Call mfr to see if you are in wty
2. if no love from mfr, run Hard disk Diagnostic If It passes
3. Format Hard Drive and Reinstall Linux

The only other alternative is to keep bumping the thread until a SuperTech reads it and decides to walk you through to resolution in a somewhat more elegant manner

Can you borrow an external USB CD drive long enough to boot from the Live CD?

Can you bring up Firefox and browse to the mfr website to download the X libraries and get some support from them? They might be able to ssh into your mini and recover it for you.

Hewlett Packard has great support. You can make contact on www.hp.com.
your options appear to be:
1. Figure out how to get your hands on an external USB CD drive and use your CD to do the trouble shooting.
2. Contact Hewlett Packard for support
3. Take it back to the store where you got it and see if they will repair/reload it for you.
Good Luck with it
