startx not working on Arch on Dell Inspiron 14R laptop

Hi!
I just installed Arch on my laptop, and startx doesn't seem to want to work. When I type it, I get the usual list of "Initializing built-in extension" messages. The last 2 lines:
Code:
Loading extension GLX
waiting for X server to shut down (EE) Server terminated successfully (0). Closing log file.t
Then it greets me with my command prompt.

I'm new to Arch, and followed a Youtube tutorial that worked on another computer. I have both XFCE4 and LXDE installed, and neither will work.

lspci -k | grep VGA
Code:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)
I have the "xf86-video-intel" and "mesa" package installed.

Thanks!

EDIT:
Here are my specs, in case it matters:
i3 dual-core CPU
6GB RAM
500GB HDD (60GB ext4 partition for Arch, plus 4GB swap)

For starting Xfce instead of startx type
Code:
startxfce4
For starting LXDE instead of startx type
Code:
startlxde
Sure you can replace these commands if you created a .xinitrc file which I dont know if you have

Also to start LXDE you can enable LXDM by issuing the command

Code:
systemctl enable lxdm.service

The "startxfce4" command works! However, the "startldxe" doesn't do anything. It doesn't give me any console output, or even an Xorg.log, which seems weird. I have another laptop (Eee PC) with an almost identical setup, and "startlxde" gives a similar result on it.

As for enabling LXDM, won't that start a graphial login? I think I prefer the CLI login, but thanks anyway!

Any ideas?

No sure but maybe creating a ~.xinitrc file would help. Then you can use startx and whatever gui you have selected there woul come up.
Here is the link for the wiki https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xinitrc

I just have the default .xinitrc file, I just changed the last lines. Here it is:
Code:
#!/bin/sh
#
# ~/.xinitrc
#
# Executed by startx (run your window manager from here)

if [ -d /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d ]; then
  for f in /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/*; do
    [ -x "$f" ] && . "$f"
  done
  unset f
fi

exec lxde
#exec startxfce

yeah it should be
Code:
#!/bin/sh
#
# ~/.xinitrc
#
# Executed by startx (run your window manager from here)

if [ -d /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d ]; then
  for f in /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/*; do
    [ -x "$f" ] && . "$f"
  done
  unset f
fi

# exec startlxde
# exec startxfce4
save it in /home and name it .xinitrc uncomment the graphical display you want to use and then execute startx at the beginning of you session.

Good luck to you
