startx not working
 

when I type startx after login nothing happens. I am new to linux so take it easy on me. It tells me that the command is not found. what to do?

Give us some information. What distribution are you using? What if any steps have you taken to setup X? What if any errors are you getting?

I am using slackware 10.0 i think. I didnt know i had to setup startx.

try also xinit or xdm commands.

To set up X in Slackware, run xorgsetup (this will quickly generate a working xorg.conf which you can edit later).

Also, are you logged in as root? If so, use 'adduser' to create a user, log out of root then log in as that user to run 'startx'.
