Startx locking me out

Blast it. I didn't do anything. I didn't uninstall anything important.

I boot up my computer to zenwalk, log in and type 'startx'

Lo and behold I get like a dozen errors.

Could not load ati module Could not load mouse module etc..

Why is this happening?

I don't understand? I'm so confused.

EDIT: And by the way. When I try and run 'videoconfig' it gives me some erors that it can't find xorg.conf in /tmp/temp.XX8ZNqGN/xorg.conf

So I copied xorg.conf there and still the same errors.

Videoconfig does run however, but when you choose any option it doesn't do anything. You wait for 10minutes and it still does nothing.

startx issues

If you get the error message: could not open default font 'fixed'
Check if the X font server is running: /etc/init.d/xfs status
If not: /etc/init.d/xfs start
Then go back and check the status -> xfs status

Depending on what run level you are in you may need to change in GRUB. I did this in run level 3 then simple do a startx and you should be back in business

Note: check the log files for error messages

Hope this helps,
Healthweb
