Startx IO error 104
Ubuntu 7.04, It keeps returning io error 104, when i type startx, when I try to look at the log, it says the directory doesn't exist,
Hardware: Pentium M 1.5 ghz
760 mb of ram
Intel® 82852/82855 Graphics Controller Family
So far I have installed Ubuntu with the text based installer.
I have run the commands apt-get update and apt-get upgrade to see if the updates would help, but they did not, I also tryed the sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg, my chipset was not on the list so I tryed vesa and vga none worked
I'm trying to dual boot Ubuntu and Windows xp, windows xp was installed first - They both boot its just that Ubuntu won't start the X server.
Thanks, -Darkknight512

The startx command is a script. In Debian I think that the script is located in /usr/X11R6/bin/startx. I suiggest that the first step in debugging this error is to take a look at /usr/X11R6/bin/startx and see if you can figure out which directory is missing. If you don't know the bash commands then post /usr/X11R6/bin/startx here and somebody who knows the bash commands can tell you what directories are potentially missing.
