startx error(solved)


while booting mandriva 10.0. GUI does not come.. when startx command is given, the following error message appears

warning:symbol map for key (AB08)redefined
using last definition for conflicting fields

( similar message for AB09,AB10,BKSL,LCTL and SPCE )

Errors from Xkb comp are not fatal to the X server.
fatal server error: could not open default font 'fixed'
X10:fatal 10 error 104 (connection reset by peer) on Xserver "0.0" after 0 requests ( 0 known processed) with 0 events remaining

Plz tell me what to do

It looks as if your keyboard mapping is screwy.

What type of keyboard do you have? - number of keys, langauge/layout
What do you have in xorg.conf or XF86Conf for the keyboard entry?

i have a samsung mechanical key board . configured as a US key board
i am unable to access X conf. or XF 86 file

Unable to access the conf file? how do you mean? You cannot find, or you cannot open?
Can you boot to runlevel 3 (basic command line) - often called "Failsafe" at the GRUB/LILO boot option screen, and login as root?

i was not able to find it

any way, feeling lost,. i reinstalled the whole OS and now it works fine
