Hello.

Is anyone able to tell me how to screen dump during the first boot after installation?

The screen dumps that I would like to get hold of are the setup screens that are shown on the first gui boot after an install.

Or if anyone knows the location on the machine where these files are kept, that would be handy also.

I am using RH9 / FC1 / FC2.

You may want to look through the files in /var/log. That is where most distros put their log files. I run Gentoo but I think that is where Redhat puts theirs too.

You may have more than one file in there though. If it is a kernel thing, you may want to check the kernel log.

You may also want to type dmesg and see if it gives you what you want. That shows a lot of boot info. If it is to long try dmesg | less . That will print one page to the screen at a time. Hit space bar to go to next page and "q" to quit.

Sorry I probably didn't explain myself correctly :) I am actually after a screen shot of the GUI screen that you get after you install RH9 / FC1 etc, on your first boot when the installation is final.

It is basically just a GUI area like Microsofts OOBE that you recieve after install.

In RH9 / FC1 it allows you to set Date / Time / Username etc.
