There is no best site and no-one here will help you,Ive tried. If you don't already have a background in computer programming and know all the geek acronyms etc... You may as well forget about it because people here will treat you like an idiot.

This is just your personal opinion and you are not helping anyone by saying people here treats new members as idiots. Looking at your brief post history, it seems that no one treated you like that and if you haven't got the patience to ask for further explanations that's your fault. Anyway, if you don't like here, you're free to leave. Nuff' said.

an opinion but...
the best way is hands on learning
you can do all the book reading you want BUT it will not sink in until you DO

different distributions ( distros) are targeted at different users and different NEEDS
a operating system that is targeted at HOME use might not be a good choice for a SERVER

the same goes for a OS targeted for servers will NOT be a good choice for home use

also some are targeted at VERY VERY experienced users
others are targeted at the " new to linux user"

a operating system like " RedHat Enterprise Linux 6.5 " is a GREAT !!! os for a server, and so is Debian .

but Fedora 20 is NOT a great choice for a server

do some research
a lot of people say that Linux Mint is a very god choice for a new user
i like OpenSUSE

opensuse is VERY gui centric
uses the gui over the terminal for a lot of things

fedora and RHEL use the TERMINAL over the gui for most things

try a few out and see what YOU like !!!

book stors are full of Fedora, Ubuntu , SUSE , RHEL , and Debian books

and EVERY distro has there own forum

On Main Menu of this forum (upper right corner), there is a link called "Linux Tutorials" check it out.. :)

Good luck!!!
