Starting problem with dbus
 
i installed xnviewmp from an sh file. By mistake i clicked the sh file again and it started to install again and i did reboot from the terminal. When i gave my password at the login screen it showed the below message and it again went to the login screen. Now I have logged in though the fluxbox.

Not able to start dbus, could you start qdbus ?

Try executing /etc/init.d/dbus start and post back with what it says happens.

Thank you for the info, but the issue is solved. I installed the gnome environment and the problem got fixed and no I am bale to login to my KDE. What might have gone wrong ? Could you please tell me ?

Sounds like to me when you restarted the install script and then stopped it it may have messed the kde configuration files. I was hoping the above command would give me a clue as to what exactly had happened. Then we may have been able to fix it and there would have been no need for gnome or any other desktop gui.

What is the actual use of d-bus?
