starting kpppd w/ ximian or starting ximian w/ kde
Hello All:
I've just downloaded and installed ximian on rh 7.3, and I've been using kde on the desktop.
Can someone tell me how I can start ximian on kde (ver 3), or else tell me how I can start kpppd (or whatever is used to connect to the internet on ximian) on the ximian desktop?
I'd like to start using ximian as an email client, but would like to keep using kde.
Conversely, if I have to use the ximian desktop so that I CAN use the email client I'd like to be able to connect to the net so I can figure out how to do the same (use the email client) through kde.
It's a drag having to switch desktops just to get to an app.
Please let me know.
Thanks,
ergo_sum

Hi.
Just type 'evolution' to get to the Ximian e-mail client. You can do this from KDE.

Done.
But I downloaded this as 'su'--how do I give myself rights for evolution?
Also: where is the icon?
And since I'm at it, how do I config for appropriate servers?
I've looked and cannot find!

Hi again.
You should be able to use evolution from any account if you installed as su. If not, then you can do 'chmod 755 /path/to/evolution' but I wouldn't have thought this was necessary.
As for the icon, you can just right click on the desktop -> 'Create new' -> 'Create new link to application' - just type 'evolution' in the execute box. You can add an icon to the 'K' menu by right clicking on it -> 'Menu Editor'.
The settings for the mail servers is in 'Tools' -> 'Settings' -> Mail accounts icon.
You can edit and add and delete servers from there.

Thanks!!
I'm using rh 7.3.
Can you tell me what utilities I have for both signing and encrypting email? Does RH come w/ such utilities, and, if not, where can I get them?

Hi again.
You can do PGP signing and encryption from the menus in the new e-mail composer in evolution. You'll need to create some keys. (I have no idea how to do this, though).
