start up application issue

I installed Kubuntu 12.04. After installation, I added terminal & firefox icons to the taskbar (using add to panel option). After that I updated system & rebooted it. Since this, both these applications (terminal 'konsole' & firefox) are starting on system startup. How can I solve this issue?

I removed both the icons from the panel, rebooted again, but no use.

Thanks in advance.
