Start Fresh, but still that EVIL FATAL ERROR

Hi, I just installed debian again from scratch, closely following the http://www.debianuniverse.com/readonline/ suggestions. Although I did everything it said, including the autodetect stuff. I have installed GDM and configurated it a bit, but when I type in /etc/init.d/gdm start It tells me this in the log thing. (EE) no devices detected. Fatal Error: no screens found it also says at the bottome X10: fatal I0 error 104 (connection reset by peers) on x server ":0.0" after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining. I want to know how to configurate it so it works I have a T1842 emachine with an Intel Extreme 3d graphics card (agp) and I have a kogi L7EH-TA flat screen monitor. That I belive is set to 1024x768 with 56 khz and 70 hz please help.......

Try to run
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86
It'll cause a tool to configure XFree to start. Type all the needed data you remember. Not sure which driver you should choose, but try i810.
