Start and stop services in SUSE - using shell

How can I start and stop services in SUSE at run time. I am looking for the equivalent of the service command in RedHat.

Thanks for any replies .

CHKCONFIG

It controls whether or not the scripts in /etc/rc.d that drzap mentioned start or don't at boot.

Run:
"chkconfig" to see the status of all scripts and services in your system.

Use:
"chkconfig | grep <script/svc name>" to see the status of just one.

Don't Forget:
"man chkonfig" or "chkconfig --help" for the options.

Typically:
"chkconfig <script/svc name> off" to turn it off (security!).

and
"chkconfig <script/svc name> on" for it to start at boot.
