Unhappy ssh -X doesnt work

Hi,

For nearly 2 months, I ve been connecting to my company server using ssh -X so that the DISPLAY on the server would be exported to my machine. Today however, when I said

make xconfig

it gave me the following error:

Application initialization failed: no display name and no $DISPLAY environment variable
Error in startup script: invalid command name "button"
while executing
"button .ref"
(file "scripts/kconfig.tk" line 51)
make: *** [xconfig] Error 1

I m using Debian Linux on my machine. I tried the following:
1) export DISPLAY=<my ip>:0.0
2) xhost + on my machine
3) ssh -Y

Still I get the same error!! Last time I had this query, my manager went into a menu somewhere on my machine and clicked some x setting..I cant find it right now and cant ask him.

Please show me some light here!!
Thanks,
A

I am not quite sure what your problem is, however,

export DISPLAY=penguin.inFrontOf.you:0.0 -- do this on company penguin.

xhost penguin.lives.in.your.compaly --------- do this on the penguin in front of you.

Check ssh setting under /etc also.
