SSH Relationship

Hi -

We use rysnc to copy zone files to a secondary BIND server.

The process is not automated (still to noob for that), we simply run the command line when required for an update.

My question is regrading creating an SSH keyed relationship between the two servers.

After running the commands via rsync, there is an etc/rndc.key file:

key "rndckey" {
algorithm xxxxxx;
secret "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx";
};

Does this indicate that we have successfully establisehd an SSH keyed relationship between this server and the master server?

Thanks in advance,
Betzie

Short answer: No. It is nothing to do with ssh

Longer answer: "BIND includes a utility called rndc which allows command line administration of the named daemon from the localhost or from a remote host."

Setting up ssh keys is simple. See here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/...ation_with_ssh

And welcome to LQ!

Thanks tredegar - for the welcome, the info, as well as pointing me towards the tutorial.

I'll be sure to check about for existing tutorials before posting :)

Thanks again, our SSH keys are all set now!

Betzie
