SSH connection in Debian Rescue DVD

Hello All

In CentOS 7/8, you can enter rescue mode with ssh enabled with its install DVD. All you need is just add 'inst.sshd=1' to its grub vmlinuz line.

How do you do it in Debian? SSH service is installed and enabled in Debian, yet I'm unable to connect to Debian in rescue mode through SSH. In rescue mode, if I enter the command 'systemctl status ssh', the output will be '/bin/sh: systemctl: not found'

How do I SSH to Debian in rescue mode (from DVD)?

Thanks

The sshd should be systemctl status sshd

You'll have to look at debians docs.

In Debian, I believe you can use both. Same thing. Here, systemctl itself is not found.

IIRC, when you enable expert mode (or priority=low), you'll be offered to load additional udebs (debian-installer modules). One of them is openssh-client-udeb. I guess you also can load it by specifying modules=openssh-client-udeb at boot prompt.

This is usually done so you can use scp to another host during installation.

Edit. Also see Debian Wiki.
