ssh can't connect wrong pass phrase

Good day,

Code:
#ssh me@19x.xx.xx.xxx -i mykey.ppk -p 22
Enter pass-phrase for key 'mykey.ppk':
And when I enter pass-phrase it still comes back.
Code:
Enter passphrase for key 'mykey.ppk':
I have used same key+pass-phrase with putty(a window like terminal) and it works fine.

My key was generated by sys-admin and posted it to me. It was also propagated to the servers.
So generating new key and propagating it over servers is out of question.

Putty uses a different format for keys than openssh. I bet all you have to do is cut out the extra crap that putty puts in there and make sure all the important stuff is on ONE line.
