ssh bash

I'm using Gentoo kernel 2.6.7 I'm trying to ssh and i get this error message. It always worked before till i emerge apache and net-fs/samba then after restart i cant seem to ssh into my pc.

login as: root
Password:
bash: line 1: root: command not found

I checked the .bashrc and /etc/profile added something to the first line and i get another error message on line 1. So I assume it is not in .bashrc or /etc/profile since it shows up two line 1 command not found. I tried to look for .bash_login and i cant locate it

please help me out.

Could it be something in /etc/ssh/ssh.conf?
