ssh and telnet problem

First of all, I don't no if this has anything to do with in but when I setup Mandrake 9.1 I pretty much went with the default of localhost and dhcp. I have give my machine a static ip which fits into local network 192.168.211.212 and my other Mandrake 10 is 192.168.211.211. I can hit each by ip and bring up webmin from either.

I have changed my hostname from localhost to m50.brattonfamily.com and p1000.brattonfamily.com.

I have no problem telnet localhost or telnet 127.0.0.1 or ssh -l david localhost or 127.0.0.1,

I am new to Linux and I see in my webmin that Bind 8 has localhost setup, do i need to setup dns for my new hostname? I have been trying to trouble shoot this for days. Anyways, any help you can provide would be most greatful. Also I have added the following to my hosts.allow "ssh: 192.168.211.212, 192.168.211.211" hoping that would help. I have no entries in my hosts.deny and my hosts is the following:
127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.211.212 m50.brattonfamily.com m50
192.168.211.211 p1000.brattonfamily.com p1000

Regards,
David Bratton
