squid or some sort of reliable easy proxy

I have already set up IP masquerade and IPTables.

I would like to use squid or some sort of proxy server. I just need a basic .conf file to use to implement a basic proxy server.

Any and all help would be appreciated... btw I am using redhat linux 8 with squid already installed... I use rhl for router for my windows 2000 network clients.

Thanks

You don't need someone elses squid.conf to set it up. You have two options.

1. Open /etc/squid/squid.conf in emacs or VI, and follow the instructions in it. You only have to change two or three settings to get it up and running. Or...

2. If you don't like text editing, get webmin. It has a great browser based frontend to easily configure squid as well as most other services. It's at http://www.webmin.com

post your conf file after you get set up and we'll look at optimizing it..
