Squid colud not be stopped and started


hi,

I am having CentOS-4,configured as proxy server, with more than 50 users. because of sudden power failure I can not start or stop the proxy server services.

what could be the possible reason.

2. I am adding users to the acl but but when tried to restart squid it shows failed status. why?

how are you trying to start / stop squid?
by hand or w/ init script?
please post errors. and try to start squid by hand.
