Squid and ftp authentication problem

Is there any one that had the same problem with Fedora 9 or Squid 3 that squid seems to be working fine for web access and ftp downloads but as soon as I try and login to an ftp site with credentials I get a blank screen with no error message?

I have unblocked port 20 and 21 from the firewall and also activated the ftp acl rules with in squid. The message that I get from the access.log is as follow.

1234450836.641 3079 172.30.36.116 TCP_MISS/000 0 GET ftp://196.7.37.106/ - DIRECT/196.7.37.106 -

My understanding is that it sent the link directly but that is where my browsers give a blank screen. I also checked that the DNS is correctly working with nslookup and if I by pass squid it works. It is all most like squid connects but does not allow the login script.

Thanks
