Speedtouch on suse 9.0 personal
can anybody please help me guide me with getting my alcatel speedtouch modem to work on suse 9.0 personal. I've tried everything, but nothing works.
This explaination method seems easy to me:http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/history/112782 but it's probably me, but there's only one file in speedmgmt.tar.gz, mgmt.o how can I make that? If I type make, it says no targets to make and no makefiles found |
I tried another one. speedtouchconf (http://speedtouchconf.sourceforge.net/faq.html), but when I run it, I get errors:
structure has no member named 'requesttype' structure has no member named 'requeste' structure has no member named 'value' structure has no member named 'index' structure has no member named 'length' |
Phhhheeewww. I finally got it working.
the solution is: Don't use SuSE, it sucks. I installed knoppix again, runned that script, and it worked immediately. Yeah, my first post from linux!!~11!:) feels good. :):newbie: :) happy newbie |
Lets not overreact .... or is it me ?
Just because your modem doesnīt work doesnīt mean that SuSE sucks ..... I know SuSE 8.1 & 8.2 & am fairly happy with them .... although your problem might have been due to SuSE giving one the newest (not with all packages ) versions of apps .... i.e. version of compiler which is not very tested & similiar things .... thatīs something I would complain about ..... ure gonna prop have problems with Knoppix as well some time which wouldnīt be at all a problem on SuSE ..... blah blah blah
