Can you be more specific?

Are you running X? (graphical?)
What is so slow?

I got a box 266 mhz, PII running router, firewall, fileserver, printserver and that thing runs good, but of course without X. With it, it slows down pretty much.

possible Solution:
service --status-all

you can get the status of tasks running (deamons)

service taskname stop

you can shut them down and see if it makes your machine run faster.

There are ways to permanently disable or enable them with
(full options with man chkconfig)
