Speed up game play by shutting down processes


How do I shut down certain unneccesary processes to spped up my game play and what processes do I shut down?

Type this in the console-

ps -aux

to see all the processes running and thn you can use

kill (pid number) - of the process you want to kill.

depends on what processes you have running. Anything you dont need..i suppose. Just out of curosity what game is that and what are the specifications of your computer?

Forgot specs on cpu and dont know how to fin out in linux

minimum specifications to run that are 128MB so I think you should be okay there even with linux running. Are u using wine to run it? I still havent figured out how to run win-doze games on my linux pc

You can find your proc specs by typing "cat proc/cpuinfo"

i tend to run games (unreal 2003) in failsafe mode where not much processes are runniing i get a measureable increase in perforamance
(./ut2003)

can you post how u got ur sof2 to work in detail?

How do you run redhat 9 in failsafe mode. I downloaded winex3 from transgaming.com, installed, and all I have to do to run something is type winex3 gamename.exe or setup.exe.

in the login screen :
there is a session icon where u can select KDe,GNOME,last and failsafe
it gives u a text only mode environment
but X is running so u can run GL games
with the freed mem.
