.spec rpm updating?

Hi,
I already created a basic .spec file (for the use of rpm) that contains files from the root directory called it example-1.0-1.rpm. Since the creation of that rpm, I updated and changed the files.
I wish to make a newer rpm that will detect the required package that was installed (requires: example = 1.0) then replaces the files in that directory and changes the version when performing a rpm -q function to see that example-1.1-1.rpm is shown.
Can this also be adapted within a local yum repository? (since I already have one setup with the example-1.0-1.rpm version)

For showing changed package versions you don't have to do nothing except increment your .specs file %version tag. Picking up files depends on what's in the %files section. I don't know what you mean by "also be adapted within a local yum repository" because where you install the RPM from doesn't matter. As long as the package follows standards you're OK.
