spamassasin and RH8

Since I'm so new to all this, I'm not sure I quite understand how to get this to work. Been reading the documention at spamassassin.org and it's not clicked yet.

I have RH 8 and SpamAssassin is an included package. I added the package and I see it in my available services. What I'm not sure about is how to get it to run, and how to configure it.

If I activate the service, I assume it will be activated with defaults. How do I customize it? Is there a flat file to configure?

Thanks for this reference. I am following it and trying it out. I still have some questions but have subscribed to the spamassassin list to hopefully answer them. I'll also do a search around here for info on procmail.
