SoundCard AC97 under RedHat 7.1
Hi,
I installed RedHat 7.1 and everything works fine, except the SoundCard. When I look into the HardwareBrowser I can see, that the SoundCard is somehow detected correct (AC97), but whenever I start the mixer or any other application I get a "Mixer" error or I do not hear anything. I have a dualboot system (WinXP and RedHat 7.1), so I know, that the speakers are working. Has anyone an idea? Thanks in advance, Martin. |
Look for your kernel version. I have similar sound and it started to work in 2.4.3 (?), I don't remember correctly.

Hi Mara,
Thanks for your help. I looked into /boot directory and found just filenames with xxxx-2.4.7, so I assume, that this is the kernel version. Is my assumption correct or is there a command, that tells me the current version. Have you modified any config-files to get the soundcard to work or was it working, when you updated the kernel?? Thanks and best regards, Martin. |
hey stoni i have the same soundcard and rh7.1. all i did was run sndconfig as root detected the soundcard and played a sample sound (the sample sound does not play properly though). this was enough to play sound from xmms

Hi,
I just unplugged my Webcam (Logitech QuickcamPro 3000) from my USB hub and the it worked. Is there a problem with USB hubs or with Webcams? Are they not supported? Regards, Martin. |
