Soundblaster Audigy 2ZS Drivers?
Hi,
I checked the soundblaster site and was unable to locate any linux drivers. I was wondering if anyone else had some drivers for the audigy 2 zs? I sucessfully installed gtk-gnutella, retrieved a file, went to play the file and it gives me the error: Could not open resource for writing. So I'm guessing its my soundcard. I've done a bit of searching on the forums and I coulden't find anything. Point me in the right direction please!:D |
This is not happy advice, but I had an Audigy (I think SE) that the specified driver just would not work for. After spending several days messing with it (and it messing with my head), I bought a £5 generic sound card that installed in about 5 minutes, which I'm listening to now.
More constructively, have you checked the alsa website (are you using alsa?)? http://www.alsa-project.org/ |
I have a soundblaster audigy 2 ZS. Your problem is not likely to be an issue with a driver, but just the configuration of the card with either alsa or oss. As root at a terminal, type in "lspci". If in the output you see
Code:
Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB Audigy (rev 04) If lspci shows the card, then you just need to reconfigure alsa. I do it at the command line, but there probably are graphic utilities to do it. If you need help with that, write back. Peace, JimBass |
Apologies for my cynicism.

lspci is on my Debian box in /usr/bin/lspci, so every user can access it, you don't even need to be root. Not sure why Fedora doesn't have it, yet another reason not to like that distro. I suggest you use yum or some website to find the rpm for lspci.
Peace, JimBass |
Redhat based distributions uses different locations for utilities. The utility lspci is in /sbin, so you type /sbin/lspci. I do not like Redhat and Fedora. I preferr Gentoo.
Probably snd-emu10k1 and snd-ca0106 is loaded, so one is conflicting with each other. Run /sbin/lsmod and print its out. |
Does this help at all?

Code:
00:06.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB Audigy (rev 04) Now as Electro asked, we need to see if your kernel has the modules loaded for the card. Please print out the results of /sbin/lsmod. Peace, JimBass |
Here you go, again :)
