Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS and SUSE 10.1

Hi.

I have a problem understanding what to d to get my soundcard to function in SUSE 10.1

I'm an old windows user that are trying to get a grip on Linux.

SUSE 10.1 find the card, i can configurate it in YaST. I have read som other post and played around some and I can se that using lspci list my card as..

03:06.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB Audigy (rev 05)

and using the lsmod list following for snd****

snd_pcm_oss 47104 0
snd_mixer_oss 20480 1 snd_pcm_oss
snd_seq_midi 12928 0
snd_emu10k1_synth 11520 0
snd_emux_synth 36736 1 snd_emu10k1_synth
snd_seq_virmidi 10752 1 snd_emux_synth
snd_seq_midi_event 10752 2 snd_seq_midi,snd_seq_virmidi
snd_seq_midi_emul 9984 1 snd_emux_synth
snd_seq 53360 5 snd_seq_midi,snd_emux_synth,snd_seq_virmidi,snd_seq_midi_event,snd_seq_midi_emul
snd_emu10k1 110596 1 snd_emu10k1_synth
snd_rawmidi 28160 3 snd_seq_midi,snd_seq_virmidi,snd_emu10k1
snd_ac97_codec 87072 1 snd_emu10k1
snd_ac97_bus 6144 1 snd_ac97_codec
snd_pcm 86788 3 snd_pcm_oss,snd_emu10k1,snd_ac97_codec
snd_seq_device 11916 6 snd_seq_midi,snd_emu10k1_synth,snd_emux_synth,snd_seq,snd_emu10k1,snd_rawmidi
snd_timer 25860 3 snd_seq,snd_emu10k1,snd_pcm
snd_util_mem 8704 2 snd_emux_synth,snd_emu10k1
snd_hwdep 12804 2 snd_emux_synth,snd_emu10k1
snd 57092 16 snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_seq_midi,snd_emu10k1_synth,snd_emux_synth,snd_seq_virmidi,snd_seq_midi _emul,snd_seq,snd_emu10k1,snd_rawmidi,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm,snd_seq_device,snd_timer,snd_util_mem,s nd_hwdep

So in what I have read so far I understand it that Linux and SUSE sees my card and the modules are running..

So what am I doing wrong. I read in the ALSA homepage that the module snd_emu19k1 should support this card.

Can anyone help understand what I'm doing wrong...

the module you stated does indeed work with that card ,i have the same card and used that modle on Arch Linux.

What exactly is the problem? i assume there is no sound?

You seem to have the right modules loaded (and your onboard ac97 too?) have you tried running
Code:
alsamixer
and cranking up the volume? that's the most obvious one

I have tried to use alsamixer and turned up the volume. I read somwhere that the Audigy A (Audigy Analog/Digital Output Jack ) option should bo set to on for the card to start giving some sound.

But it does not work for me...

I solved it by reinstalling SUSE 10.1, which automatically detects and installs the driver for Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS.

When the install is ready, the first thing I did was to use the program Kmix inside of KDE an turn on the volume for diverse settings and most important, set the setting for Audigy Analog/D out to on in the third panel.

That did it for me...
