sound system not responding
I have installed a copy of backtrack linux on my computer and I have one problem about my sound system.
On the upper panel I have sound icon which show that currently my system is in mute mode(just speaker icon and no sound lines in front of it). when I click on it, a window pops up and shows volume bar so that I can increase or decrease the volume but when I set volume to any position a new dialogue box pops up and says "waiting sound system to respond" this wait never ends!! and that's why I am not able to listen any songs on my PC (I use banshee media player)
If you have solution to this please help me ASAP!!
Thank you!!

Try running 'alsaconf' as root. It will detect you sound cards. The rest is just read and follow intructions :).
