sound stopped working on toshiba satellite running ubuntu 11.04
I'm running Ubuntu 11.04, kernel 2.6.38-10-generic on a toshiba satellite A 100 laptop.
I noticed my sound has stopped working. This seems to have happened after installing the latest upgrade package.
How to get my sound back ?

After I posted this I read a reply on one of the threads had not seen before. This reply advised using the "alsamixer" command. I did that and alsamixer opened. The master key was indeed muted. However, after unmuting it turning it up is impossible, the volume just stays at 00.
Any clue how to solve this?

Reason: read reply about alsamixer
