sound stopped working FC9 T61

I still hear the system beeps eg. terminal beeps.

But mplayer/gnome-player/youtube don't produce sound any more.

Only shows one bar "pcm" and its not mute.

Its was working fine till one day I had gnome-player opened and I started typing.

I initially thought I pressed some hot key to mute gnome, but later found out other applications went mute too.

Second Question:

My FC9 unlike openSuse don't have "alsaconf" Can I install it?
Or is there a substitute for it?

Thanks for your help.

beeps is handled by a little pc speaker in your case with module called ....pcspkr

have a peek at sound wiki link and look at the various checks and mixer settings pages in particular if you have time

Thanks aus,

I am not sure but volume was at lowest on mplayer. I increased it and sure enough I heard voice.

But I didn't know that gnome-player going mute would mute ever thing else.
System volume control was not mute.

What I mean to say is problem is solved.

But I go though the links above to add some utilites to manage sound better in FC9.

Thanks again.
