Sound Problems

I just updated my KDE and I was going through to check for problems. I found that my sound wasn't working for KDE or for Amarock, but it was working for the stupid little games that are on it. I went into the settings, but when I clicked on multimedia the whole settings window closed. I then tried to go into Amarock and fix it from there, but the same thing happened. When I clicked on configure sound the whole program closed.

You're not the only one. Have you seen:

Do non Phonon applications work? And is a new user affected?
If the answer to both is yes, please ensure that all KDE related packages are updated, and the correct backend has been selected in System Settings > Multimedia.

If the answer to the first question is no, then your systems configuration has been changed. Usually there is an 'audio' group that you will need to be a member of for sound to work.
